we have been affected by poverty and had our expertise ignored in the general election

The role voters on a low income will play in determining the outcome of the forthcoming election is the focus of intense media speculation. But beyond talk of how to win over the stereotyped working class ‘Workington man’, the voices and expertise of those living in low-income communities have been largely absent from the election campaigns.

We are Poverty2Solutions – a coalition of three grassroots organisations rooted in our communities in London, Teesside and Leeds, all led by people with direct experience of poverty. In the past, we have felt silenced and unable to affect the decisions that have an impact on our lives – a factor many believe to be a key driver behind the vote to leave the EU.
